Twins by more than the traditional definition, Ian and Adahn Stewart, known collectively as Westart, have been working collaboratively since birth.
Naturally drawn to visual art, Adahn and Ian began their lives surrounded by comics, animation, and fairy tales. After the right mix of encouraging adults, an art school scholarship and years of dedication, Westart has developed a unique, contemporary style which explores heroic narratives, spinning tales of youth and popular culture. With deeply integrated aesthetics, the two young artists create insightful, cutting-edge works that reflect as much on their inner lives as they do on the world at large.
Westart spends many of their days peddling their works on a street corner flea market, in Berkeley, CA. January brings a new venture for both Westart and Blackball Universe with the show Rest Less in the Age of Excess.
The show featured works in a variety of mediums, including (but not limited to) acrylics, ink, collage, and mixed media on bristol board, vinyl disc, paper and more.
