Founded in 2002, Me and This Japanese Guy is a tribute to the longstanding tradition of the blues. While Masa was touring with Billy Preston (keyboardist and collaborator with The Beatles), Xavier found that they shared an infatuation with American roots music. The duo took the opportunity to explore the stripped down sounds of blues guitar and singing, alongside the complex high-energy music of Blood Sugar X. At venues such as “Club Bingo”, Me and This Japanese Guy often played as the opening band for Blood Sugar X, giving audiences the chance to more fully appreciate the multi-faceted artists.
