Chocolate Butterfly CLICK HERE to hear more from Chocolate Butterfly Chocolate Butterfly is the work of multi-instrumentalist songwriter Xavier Dphrepaulezz. The project began in 2001, after Xavier left Interscope Records to found Blackball Universe. With a rejuvenated appreciation of Prince’s early music, and an admiration for black artists willing to experiment, Xavier collaborated with guitarist Masa Kohama, and rapper Slimkid3 of The Pharcyde to create unique, edgy urban neo-soul. Though Chocolate Butterfly has never performed live, their studio album received attention internationally, as it was played by DJs in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. Hollywood quickly recognized the sophisticated sounds of Chocolate Butterfly — songs “Ode to King/Everything is Alright,” “Satisfation,” and “A Love Contagious,” have been licensed numerous times in films and on television, including in Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes To Jail and I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Blackball Universe released a brand new Chocolate Butterfly album on August 28, 2012, entitled I Used To Be Young and Pretty. The album is now available for download: CLICK HERE FOR BANDCAMP DOWNLOAD
