Founded in 2002 by Xavier Dphrepaulezz and Blood Sugar X guitarist Masa Kohama, Me and This Japanese Guy is a tribute to the longstanding tradition of the blues. While Masa was touring with Billy Preston (keyboardist and collaborator with The Beatles), Xavier found that they shared an infatuation with American roots music. The duo took the opportunity to explore the stripped down sounds of blues guitar and singing, alongside the high-energy, high-complexity music of Blood Sugar X.  At the wildly eclectic monthly party “Club Bingo,” and on tour, Me and This Japanese Guy often played as the opening band for Blood Sugar X, giving audiences the chance to more fully appreciate the multi-faceted artists.
